Lovely meal with excellent service. It would be 5stars all the way except for a fiery chunk of chilli in the onion marmalade with the terrine which was really unpleasant. Rest of food was all delicious.
The food was mediocre overcooked scollops for starters and duck was nice but not overwhelming and side of root veg also overcooked. The staff tried really hard and the young waitress was lovely but obviously learning which was fine. We started in the bar, which although had a lovely fire the smell of smoke was like being next to a bonfire on an Autumn day the bar could do with a make over in comfort hard wooden stools ands chairs did not give it a fireside ambience. We had nice cocktails but were given the menus to make a quick decision on the taster menu. I was so hoping of for more but in all honesty I do not think the food nor general experience justified the £411 bill. Sorry to be negative
Found the meal rather average. The game terrine was ok, the ox cheeks although tasty were not succulent. The queen of puddings was really disappointing. I had expected a warm desert, instead it was a cold slice of blackberry and ?apple cake with hard meringue pieces on top. The sorbet was good. Nice venue, good service.
