We went to this restaurant after using the Michelin guide for iPad with the search function for restaurants nearby the Ch. Colbert in the Loire region of France. The reviews were very favourable so purely on spec we drove to Cholet and fortunately there was a table available. Three of us attended the meal, one adult and two young adults. The restaurant is very unassuming on the outside and is not in a particularly fancy or touristic area. Similarly, inside is very modest and small with only 5 tables and a total capacity that would not exceed 20.While the setting was not exceptional, the food was splendid. We had the 29 Euro meal and everyone enjoyed the langostines with a large ravioli and a lovely clear sauce. Not a drop remained! The pasta was very tender and the filling was wonderful. The langostines were sweet and very tasty. Three different main courses were tried and the sandre with a coating of mushrooms and nuts was excellent. Again the white creamy and foamy sauce was memorable. The lapin was eagerly consumed by one of us and the tuna was the final entree. I had cheese from the region as my final course and the 4 varieties presented were different in texture and flavour but all good. Clafouti was enjoyed by two diners. All in all a very nice meal out in a modest setting with many locals enjoying the food. Not fancy but the food carried the day!
