Additionally, all the meat was heavily seasoned with black peppercorns on the underside. While this may be suitable for those who enjoy a strong black pepper flavor, it may not be to everyone's taste.
We went to the restaurant for lunch. The food was average at best. I ordered the chicken gyros, which was served on a flatbread that was so tough, I was afraid I might break a tooth. I don't appreciate paying for subpar food, and it was even more unpleasant to have to listen to the barmaid loudly discussing her personal problems while trying to enjoy my meal.
We started with some mushrooms that seemed to have been defrosted and lacked flavor. The steak casserole with Yorkshire pudding was almost repulsive. The chips were too greasy and overcooked. We won't be returning to this restaurant.
Proper pub, with really tasty food served. Had home made potato onion and thyme soup, delicious , followed by beer battered cod chips and mushy peas, amazing!!Portion size very generous, enormous piece of cod done in delicious beer battered, with triple cooked chips. Thumbs up, will definitely visit again when in the area
We didn't know the Original Farmers Arms at all, but booked on the strength of online reviews while we were staying in the area. We were a bit doubtful on turning up. It looks a bit shabby and unloved from the outside. Inside, too, is basic and worn. But it's a genuine, friendly old-fashioned pub and we had a really excellent Sunday lunch. Couldn't fault it and would definitely come back.
