I have come here 3 times and each time I left feeling underwhelmed by the ramen. Everything one expects in a bowl of ramen is here, but the experience is not entirely fulfilling: the broth is not hot enough, the noodles aren't cooked enough, the soft boiled egg is cold from the fridge. I recommend to someone who has never had good ramen before but not to someone who has had ramen in Japan before.
Pretty tasty ramen broth with many different broth options on the menu. I like that they have many different toppings to keep it interesting too. They only downside is that the noodles were slightly undercooked. It’s good ramen but not the best, good for a quick lunch
Had the Jigoku Ramen. It was pretty spicy but I really like spicy food, so that was all good! There was a good mix of things in the soup, charshu pork, mushrooms, greens and a egg. Service was good too! Would recommend.
Nothing beats a hot bowel of ramen on a windy Wellington evening. Catching up with a friend, we were actually suppose to go to Dumplin’d but it was closed so we opted for Hey Ramen.<br/ <br/ Nice atmosphere, as expected of a Japanese casual restaurant there was plenty of visuals in regards to the meals, making ordering simple. <br/ <br/ I ordered a tonkatsu ramen. The broth was amazing, deep flavored and the springiness of the noodles was a winning combination. My only complaint was that the portion size was quite small.<br/ <br/ Showstopper: The broth has some serious depth in terms of flavor.<br/ <br/ Overall Grade: B
I have tried a soup and several noodle and rice dishes from Hey Ramen.I really enjoy the Chicken Katusdon. The chicken is delicious and the sauce they use is really good. The Bento bowl meals are quite good, it's where you choose between rice and noodles, a good selection of veges and 1 or 2 meats depending on the bowl size you paid for. Towards the end of the day when they're getting ready to close up they pack leftover Bento ingredients into bowls and sell them cheap. This is nice however you don't get to choose the ingredients. I picked one that had these beans in it that taste like licorice. I've been told they're quite healthy but the taste and texture did not go with the food and I had to pick them out.I would recommend for the Chicken Katsudon alone, nice place to go for a nice filling meal.
