However, she seemed annoyed (maybe she was having a bad day). We opted to sit outside. However, we sat there for 10 15 min without any service, so we asked the hostess if we could move inside. Without missing a beat, her answer was No, due to us being seated outside, she gave our inside table away. I understand. However, there wasn 't any attempt by the hostess to rectify the situation, no let me see what I can do or would you mind sitting at the bar? NO EFFORT whatsoever! There were only 2 of us that needed accommodation. The restaurant came highly recommended, and Mexican is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, we left and dined at another local resturant.
We’ve been going to Rio since the early days over on Beeman St, so we know this restaurant well. It has always had great food. We have not been here for a few years however and our recent trip will literally be our last. Who ever heard of no chips and salsa when you’re seated in any Mexican restaurant? Who also has heard of a $25 burrito???? With my $20.50 sample plate I had to upgrade to who knows how much just for the standard rice and beans which have pretty much always come with most meals…. Not much food and no drinks just water cost us $55 with a tip… OUTRAGEOUS! Sorry, not going back … good food prices way too high.
We sat outside and had tacos and taquitos..Our waitress was sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu..and the food was amazing and fresh!! The bill was about $50 for 2 entrees an appetizer and a dessert (tres leches cake...yum! . Casual, calm atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy good company and great food. They have a garden where they grow their fresh berries, tomatoes and more! Will definitely be back! .
Used to love this place pre-pandemic. Went recently and the food was horrible. Bland tacos/burrito (tasted like the meat was cooked with only salt and nothing else), the burrito was basically big chunks of pork and nothing else. The Enchiladas Rojas were still fine but only because the sauce was good and covered up the (lack of) flavor of the chicken. Would recommend coming here for drinks, not for food.
When I previously lived in Ithaca, I would always try and stop at this restaurant when going through the area. I've now since relocated to the Rochester area and visit on a regular basis because the food is so amazing! Vegetarian options: Accommodates vegan requests but a menu specifying vegan would be helpful.
