Starters were small and disappointing. Tasted ok. Mains were much pretty for taste and portion size. Glad I wasn't paying full price doubt i'll go again unless there is an offer. Staff were fairly good but came across slightly unexperienced. It was an okay lunch. No serious complaints but then again no major compliments either. Thanks.
I recently visited Anokha with a fellow foodie friend. We love Indian food but more than that we love food that has that extra special taste. Anokha has outstanding flavour and we should know because we tried so many dishes. From the King Prawn starter and the othe four we tried lol to the Lamb Shank and the Lamb Jalfrezy, all were exquisitely presented, staff were warm and very chatty. And oh the naan bread was soft fluffy. Anokha also accepts the tastecard which took 50% off of food so we were over the moon.
We went here for a leaving lunch on a Tuesday. The place was very quiet and the service disappointing. The food was indifferent, their website built up an expectation of something special however. The 50% off food was the attraction but still £30/head.
Booked this restaurant as it was the closest Indian to the hotel (the missus is pregnant and can't walk far) and we were both very happy that we picked this place. It's hidden amongst the backstreets and so I would never have found it if it wasn't on Opentable. The staff were great (the main guy in particular, however Im sorry I have forgotten his name) very polite and courteous. For a Sat night in the city the place was busier than expected and the atmosphere was just right. The starters were excellent, especially the king prawns (although an extra one or two would have been even better). The mains were delicious, and I would recommend the lamb shank. The only bad point I could make was we were charged for poppadoms we never received (the manager did take them off the bill when we pointed this out) however, on the plus side it's not a bad thing we didn't get them as we had more than enough to eat as it was.
A great place in the City for a curry and the lamb shank curry is really good!
