I enjoy discovering hidden drinking spots in distant cities. How about a laid-back pub with historical significance? Definitely. Local residents relaxing, a wide selection of cask ales, and delicious food...
This restaurant is not your typical tourist spot, with many locals frequenting the establishment. The atmosphere is very pleasant. A pint of pale ale costs 4.70£ and Guinness is 5£.
This southern American spot has picked up a small town backtreet, well hidden over a pub called the rising sun. there is little to give it away from the outside when they pass, so congratulate them to be in the know when they get there!. I am sure that the members of the boozy bunch with American roots are undoubtedly better qualified to talk about authentic South food. I'm afraid I can't tell them if the brisket tastes like it does in Texas or if they pour the way they should be done. but what I can say is that this is hearty (although perhaps not so good for her heart), comforting south food well made. their website uses the word “soul enrichment”, which seems quite apt although I would also use it besides ‘wistline enrichment’ (I actually had to solve the belt on my dress a button while on the table).
I'm so glad to have found the fat bear. I am from Texas and finally found a place to get quite authentic American food from the south. I could fix my chicken steak. it was great! also a fried alligator as starter. it was good. I can't wait to go back and try more elements on the menu.
