I'm eagerly anticipating my next visit to explore the remaining dishes on the menu. It's worth mentioning that despite the speedy service for most dishes, there are some signature specialties that require 20 minutes of cooking time. The ambiance exudes a cool and comfortable vibe, and the staff members are exceptionally friendly.
I’ve been hearing so much about this spot, so I needed to check it out. They don’t take reservations so get here early to grab a spot. The inside of the restaurant is busy and functional, it’s meant for you to dine in quickly and get out. Try many menu options, but not really stood out. Nasi Lemak was excellent, probably the best I’ve had in NYC. The cross cross mushrooms and oyster omelette were also good. Unfortunately, other dishes like the chicken fat rice, and the beef rendang were flat and flavorless. The best part is the prices you can try a lot of plates for a relatively good deal in New York City.
I fell in love with this place. Food has so much flavor! I went back multiple times during a recent trip to the city. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is simple, so for an easy delicious meal at any time of the day it's solid choice and reasonably priced. You are expected to clean up your own table afterward, so service is pretty light.Nasi lemak is the best I've had so far in my travels. The fried anchovies have such amazing flavor.Kaya butter toasts are outstanding. Kaya jam is delicious and sweet and the bread used is thick and fluffy.Chicken jerky buns are fantastic. The buns are buttery and a little chewy and flaky and go do well with the flavorful savory jerky chicken.Honeycomb cake is chewy with a medium level sweetness. Texture was enjoyable.Kuih talam has a deliciously sweet Pandan cake base with a slightly salty and almost savory coconut milk top.
My mom is Malaysian so I was really excited to try this place out. They were out of Laksa which is really sad as it seems to be a main menu item. The Teh Tarik was really watery but Milo made up for it. The Belacan wings and nasi lemak were good. They forgot about our noodle dish so we waited about 40 minutes for it. The place isn’t the cleanest and you have to bus it yourself. Wish I could love this place
Stopped by Kopitiam during my Chinatown food crawl! I'm naive to Malayasian food and was super glad I was able to try it here. Ordered the nasi lemak which came with savory anchovies on a bed of coconut rice with sliced cucumber and a boiled egg. The saltiness of the anchovies was well-balanced by the rice and veg. But the real reason I visited was for their kaya butter toast. This toast was phenomenal. It's butter-toasted white bread with a heaping amount of kaya which is a coconut and pandan-based jam. So, so, so delicious. Service was attentive and fast. Ambiance was that of a coffee shop with many wooden accents. They have a wealth of other dishes on their menu that I'd love to try the next time I'm in the area!
