Ridgewood Thai - City of New York

The service was decent, but the food was nothing to write home about. The bill came to $31.58, and I paid with a $40 bill, expecting some change. The waitress returned $3 but took a $5 tip without asking, which I found quite inappropriate. I had actually intended to tip her more than $5, but this seemed petty and worth mentioning. In addition to the $5 she took, I also gave her $2 in change, so she ended up with over $7, even though I felt she didn’t truly earn it. The restaurant claims to be a Thai place, but the food was quite disappointing. The small chicken wings were just regular breaded wings.

The portion sizes at this restaurant are quite disappointing. I ordered two large soups because I enjoy soup during colder weather. The price for a large was just one dollar less than two small sizes, so I expected a generous serving. However, what I received was a 24-ounce container that wasn't even filled to the top, rather than the 32 ounces I anticipated (which is double the size of the small 16-ounce container). I compared it with containers I've saved from previous visits, and it was clear that the large wasn't worth the price.

I visited this restaurant for lunch and found the deal to be quite good—$8.99 for a drink, appetizer, and entrée. The Thai iced tea was nice, but the appetizer and drunk noodles were just average. I've had better Thai food elsewhere. However, I'm willing to give it another chance to see if the other dishes are any better.

I had the vegetarian duck with spicy bamboo for lunch and it was SO GOOD and so incredibly filling!! Good price for a lunch special too that came with a drink and appetizer! Will be coming back again!

The food was so amazing. I really enjoy the food here. I would definitely recommend anyone in the area to give this Thai restaurant a chance.
