Shi - City of New York

The service was wonderful! The food was tasty and served in generous portions. Although there wasn't much of a view of the water, I would definitely come back again.

For dessert, I tried the Sundae Shi, and the same waitress served me three scoops of vanilla ice cream, asking if I wanted liquor on top. I agreed, as the liquor was supposed to be included in the sundae, which cost $11. Additionally, upon arrival, the hostess informed us that we needed to finish by 9 PM, a detail that should have been communicated when we made our reservation. This set a hurried tone for our dinner; we hadn’t even settled in before the waitress inquired about our drink order. We had to let her know we were waiting for another friend and needed a little time, which only added to the feeling of being rushed. Overall, we didn’t enjoy the food, and I personally won’t be returning. I've had better food and service at other places.

I visited the restaurant with my family, and unfortunately, we were not seated. The staff inquired about a reservation, which I did not have. They informed us that the only option available was a couch in the lounge area by the entrance. When I asked about the next available table, another staff member reiterated that was indeed the only seating they had. As a Black patron, I found it particularly disheartening to be treated this way. The service we received was inadequate, and having to sit by the door without a proper table, especially with a toddler, was unacceptable. I would advise against giving this establishment any business.

I have been coming to shi for years. But I came for my birthday dinner recently and couldn't help but notice all the fruit flies. Like an insane amount I killed 3 and one that was about to go in my food. The only reason I give it 3 stars is the drinks are always good and so is the food.

This is an upscale, decently crowded restaurant right opposite to Manhattan views. We enjoyed our food flavorful and packed with good spice. My starter was a huge size and had spicy tuna layers of pastry dough which was a good heart eat. My main course was hearty and good sized too. Service was pretty decent and we had a good dinner at Shi.
