La Herencia de Juan

There are two locations of La Herencia de Juan. This one is on Avenida Congreso. I ate there twice and enjoyed my meals both times. This one did not accept credit cards during my last visit there. Not sure if it was a temporary outage, or if they never accept tarjetas (credit cards). Their other location does accept credit cards.La Herencia de Juan cooks a fantastic and generous helping of asado and entraña. When I went with a colleague, we ordered a side of mashed potatoes (puré de papas) that was more than enough for the both of us.Both are typical small neighborhood restaurants, with a handful of tables. Service is good. Beer and wine are available.In spite of the good quality, I would probably not go back to this particular location of La Herencia de Juan for two reasons:1. They don't take credit cards.2. There are other grill options that are closer to work for lunch (Vicente for example).3. The other location of La Herencia de Juan is just two blocks from my hotel, and they accept credit cards.

My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the area close to our hotel. Though our spanish was mediocre, we were able to somehow communicate with our waiter. As this was our second day in Buenos Aires, we inevitably ordered the biffe de chorizo de Juan. As good as this dish was, let's just say that it is not for the faint of heart.: a steak with pancetta and melted mozarella layered on top with two fried eggs sunny side up...and we ordered french fries to boot. Again, it was delicious but I could feel my arteries clogging up as we were eating. We then had flan for dessert to add to the decadence. I'll probably eat nothing but salads for the next two days to make up for this meal...but it was a meal worth having.

I liked the food, the excellent attention, the very kind young woman. I recommend it.

Good place. It spends approximately 600 pesos per person. The exquisite loin!
