This is actually several restaurants clustered together and the only way they can compete is by accosting you and doing their best to corral you to a table. I'd say keep going toward the back because it's cheaper; but, I'd instead say just skip it entirely.
I went here twice for dinner because I enjoyed it so much the first time. However, when I went it was after the market had closed and I ate at one of the outside restaurants. They provide a free cup of cerviche with your meal. The wait staff at the restaurants look to get you to eat at their establishment. The seating is basic, plastic chairs and tables, but that adds to the atmosphere. One night I had grilled snapper and you could taste the freshness. The next time, I had a seafood mixture, which was also good.
Food was good but also overcharged our bill by almost 50%. would not adjust when we challenged it. apparently, a common practice at the market but only place it happened to us in City.
Our taxi driver recommended a place at the Mercado. We ordered for approximately 50$, the bill came out 75$. For example, drink on the menu is 4$, was charged 7$, the bill was confusing. It was crowded, hot and noisy, so we paid and left! Still recommend because the food was good and fresh, just keep track of how much is your food when you order.
