The upstairs bar has drinks of its own and can not order most food. You saw clear lines in the establishment. The main area is adarker ambience. One of the biggest complaints with the design was that it was hot in the place. By the time I left, It wascooler outside than within the building. It was 72 outside. Service for the most part sucked. There were times at thebar that you were completely ignored. If the person did not like you, he would not explain the sauces or anything. Except forthe desert, the speed of the food was slow for a restaurant. The Drink was amazing. It was overpriced for what you got. For the warmth within the building, I am not sure if it was worth it. For the length of time this place has been open, Youwould think bottles of the sauces would be a better presentation. It looked horrible. The Korean sauce seemed interestingbut the ingredients got stuck in the nozzle so I could only taste Little. Of the other sauces, The Raleigh and Decatur were the best. Rest of the sauces were nothing special. I will say I never tried the hell. As for the food, It was a hit ormiss. For the Main dish, I tried Woodshop 101. The brisket was amazing.. The sweet potato side was great. The chicken wassimple okay. The roll and sweet butter was good. The ribs were more tear instead of pulling off the bone texture. Theyneeded help for the sauces and had dry spots. The collared greens had some taste. I could never see or taste the ?bacon?anywhere. For the quality and amount of food, it was overpriced. The Desert was decent. It was decently priced for arestaurant . I have been to the WoodShop many years ago and remembered it.. I will say it has gone downhill. At this timewith all the negatives, I would pass going again
Another great meal. Great environment and food and more Great Michigan service. A constant smile and helpful service. The beer just as amazing. We always enjoy it here and will be back soon.
Our evening began with a phone call to inquire about the wait time for a large party. We were told there was no wait as the restaurant was slow and half-empty. However, upon arriving less than 10 minutes later, we were informed that it would be over an hour due to being too busy. Despite the lack of reservations and our desire to avoid a long wait on a Wednesday night, we decided to wait. Unfortunately, the service was subpar. We did not receive drink refills and had to ask the bartender for water, who gave us a pitcher. Our waiter also neglected to clear the appetizer plates when serving our main dishes, leaving little space at the table. We had to prompt him for everything we needed, indicating a lack of customer service training. Charging over $3 for a fountain drink should include at least one refill. Despite these shortcomings, the food remained consistently good.
First Natalie, thank you! you are a rockstar! Thank you for saving us from the bugs outside and thank you for being so kind! Second the food was absolutely delicious! This is a must stop for Clarkston area and worth the drive if outside the area. Eachdish had its own unique flavors and made to order.
I?ve been going to the Woodshop for 10+ years. It?s always been a satisfying experience every visit and I look forward to coming back each visit. I ordered the Main with Brisket, mac?n cheese, and sweet Potato mash. Just as good as my last visits. I hopeUnion restaurants continue to stay away from being ?corporatized? and continue what they are doing forever.
