Contribuisci feedbackBefore you read the novel below, I will summarize within the first few sentences. We had heard about this little hole in the wall and read Rave reviews before keeping our table for a birthday party about a week in advance. We reserved for 4:00 on Sunday. 2 stars because 2 of the 5 steaks were ordered cooked as ordered and were delicious. Other factors were the level of the service that was not limited to keeping only no drinks full, communicating the lack of menu items and generally being friendly. When we arrived, it was to our surprise it was empty.no someone else wait/seated in the restaurant. It seemed that an employee who happens to be the owner who turns it out. We sat and asked for drinking orders and brought cans of pop and said that Dr. Pfeffer had gone bad before it could be used so that they didn't wear it. No big deal. Ordered a full spread of appetizers, 't get an element, asked and it was made and brought out. No big deal. The drinks were almost empty all the time, even though we were the only table in place and we were barely controlled. All ordered rib eye steaks except children and one person ordered Sirloin. We said he was out of 10 ounces, so he had to upgrade to 12 ounces. All steaks should be rare. We were still the only people in the restaurant at this point... 40 minutes later. The kids' things came out first, intelligent movement. Then my 12 ounce steak, which was burned at the edges, came about 1/2 thick, and well finished. Then came the 16oz rib eye and it was 3/4-1 thick, juicy and boiled to medium rare. As ordered. Then my husband Steak, a 14oz boiled medium good and also about 1/2 thick the lobster dick was probably a 2oz tail and served meat side down on a leaf of salad... in the middle. Then the other 14oz came, which was about 3/4 thick, juicy and undercooked. Then the birthday child came 16oz and it was about 1/2 thick and well made. At this point it was no longer a maybe because the 12oz was smaller it cooked over, but one they even know how to cook a steak? When I addressed the problem, Well was told to me I cook on the plus page what people order because some people say a temperature and mean another. I said good, medium rare for me means warm red center. He went and came back and said I had only one steak left, so... I just ran away. No excuse, no explanation other than what was said. A table of 3 appeared at 5:30 and his attention went to them. We waited tables in our younger years and even stacked garbage/plates for easy distance, as we were a party of 5 adults and 3 children. We are business owners and know that staff / shortage of supply are real, we get it. BUT there is absolutely no excuse for lack of service / explanation especially if you were over $20/$30 from a so-called Wagyu bloodline that was over/under boiled 4/5 steaks. All he had to say was, we're short staff, I'm alone, bare with me. I'm sorry.
Wow! What a great needle in the haystack! This little jewel of a restaurant was not disappointed. The owner was great to speak, and the food was dynamite! The Portobello appetizers were fantastic, my Ribeye was great, and the ribs of my daughter were delicious. We'll come back sometime. Every penny worth it.
If you want a way out and a great steak dinner is this place for you! The outside looks like a house and can throw you away, but inside it opens into a beautiful dining room with a soft ambience. The food is delicious! We enjoyed our road trip experience and found this restaurant! Well worth your time and money!
Quiet friendly atmosphere with small town country style. Staff was friendly and food was amazing. Very clean and tidy.
If this corner cafe was located in the middle of a city, with some of the food locally grown and all personally prepared by an expert chef- there would be a waiting list, no place to park and the menu would be a lot pricier. Instead, it is THE best place to eat in rural Northwest Missouri even though it is the only restaurant in Clearmont!
