Ate here after the March For Our Lives with the family. Brand new place, the guys running it are still finding their footing, but excellent food. The 555 chicken was terrific, and the mango lassi was wonderful. Give them a try!
I've been working in Terminal Tower for 4 months now and this is by far my favorite downtown takeout spot. Want a LOT of food for your money? Desi 101. Want a high quality:cost ratio? Desi 101. I'm not even that into Indian food, this place is just awesome. They fill the to-go containers to the point of having difficulty closing it; this photo was after I'd already eaten a few large bites. The staff is friendly, and as long as you're not there when they're slammed, happy to help out a bumbling white guy like me figure out what the dishes are. I'm critical of restaurants after a few years working in them, but I have nothing but nice things to say about Desi 101.
It's a good place if you love spicy food. I am not a big fan of spices but I think they serve a good food. It feels good having hot, spicy Indian food once in a while. I tried veg biryani and Manchurian. It tasted good.
Since I got take-out here, I can 't rate the quality of service or atmosphere. However, the food is amazing. The egg biryani was excellent, not to mention a very generous portion. I like very spicy biryani so they included a sauce on the side to add as desired. I also tried the chicken tikka masala. The flavor is great and the sauce was rich and delicious. I particularly enjoyed dipping naan in the sauce. Finally, I also tried the szechuan chicken (mostly since I was so intrigued by it being on the menu. It was very spicy and SO GOOD. I 've been to other Indian restaurants that make a similar dish though it is usually called 'chicken 65 '. This place will likely be my new go-to for Indian take-out!
