The shower had semi-private glass, which extended into the bedroom area, compromising privacy—making it difficult for anyone still sleeping when someone was showering. While the toilet was enclosed, the layout wasn’t ideal. Additionally, one side of the bed lacked outlets, which felt impractical given the overall design. The prices for items in the minibar were excessively high, and the room cleaning service was inconsistent, with no service provided during one of our three nights. On a positive note, the hotel appears to respect all BonVoy club reward policies. Parking is available at $50 per night, which is typical for this area. In terms of the room design, it leans heavily towards aesthetics over practicality, but it is still a nice space overall. The hotel is well-situated for nearby activities, such as baseball, basketball, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, all within walking distance. There are many restaurant options close by, and while downtown has typical urban safety issues—like some homelessness and drug-related problems—it's less problematic than in many other large cities. I felt safe walking around at night. As for dining and drinks, breakfast was nice and reasonably priced, though there was no buffet option. The Vault bar has a cool vibe and offers fairly priced drinks, while the rooftop bar leaves something to be desired.
We quickly apologized and moved to a different area down the hall, behind the elevators, and down the stairs where there were no other guests around, hoping this would be acceptable since we wanted to capture the lovely ambiance we had paid for. To our surprise, Dave followed us to that spot and informed us that taking pictures was not allowed there either. We understood that it was a policy we needed to respect, but then he began to berate us. After his second warning, we complied and returned to our room to avoid any further issues. Despite us not arguing or creating a fuss, he continued to follow us, mockingly speaking in AAVE for some strange reason. We did not engage with him at all, yet he persisted in this behavior until we got into the elevator. He also made a remark suggesting we didn’t actually have a room at the hotel, which felt extremely insulting. There are appropriate ways to communicate policies, and insulting and harassing customers is definitely not one of them. We encountered Dave multiple times after that at the rooftop bar and even on our floor, even though we hadn’t done anything wrong. We were patrons of the hotel and its restaurant, and we certainly didn’t deserve to be treated like criminals. His actions were truly disappointing, and given that we are young and Black, it felt particularly targeted. Before leaving, I made sure to submit a complaint about this experience. It’s unfortunate that one employee’s behavior overshadowed an otherwise fantastic stay. He really stood out negatively compared to the rest of the exceptional staff. Without that incident, our experience would have been nearly perfect. I believe the hotel should clearly communicate their no-photography policy online or within the hotel to prevent similar situations in the future. On a positive note, the hotel itself is fantastic! I had no issues with check-in or check-out; the room was beautiful, and the staff were incredibly sweet, helpful, and outstanding! We thoroughly enjoyed the rooftop bar, the food was great, and we plan to return. I want to acknowledge the three women at the front desk—Nicki, Holly, and another whose name I didn't catch—for being so kind and helpful. They were wonderful, along with the doorman who assisted me with my various bags. The only other issue I encountered was an extra deposit charge, but that was quickly refunded.
The decor throughout the lobby and hallways is stunning. Unfortunately, our brief stay didn’t allow us to take advantage of amenities like the rooftop bar and Vault, but those will definitely be on our list for our next visit. Our room featured a king-sized bed, a sectional sofa, and a stylish shower. While some reviews expressed concerns about the shower, we found the temperature and design of the glass to be quite enjoyable. We were on the 8th floor, which didn’t offer the best views, but it still provided a nice city ambiance. Just a heads up—check the mini bar prices before indulging, as they can be quite expensive for small portions. My only minor complaint is that the valet service was a bit pricey at $45 per night. Overall, thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful city!
If you value honesty, cleanliness, and safety, don’t stay here. We were given a room under false pretenses and our card was charged without our permission. If I could rate this a zero star experience I would. We stayed the night on Friday August 5th and I’m still waiting to hear from a manager 6 days later as they promised to contact us.
Beautiful hotel and great location. Nice rooftop bar but NO COFFEE in the rooms or lobby. The only place to get coffee was at the bar off the lobby. It tasted horrible and we had to pay over $4 for a small to go cup. If you pay that much for a room surely you can at least offer complimentary coffee in the lobby. The valet service was excellent and very short walk to the baseball stadium.
