Mitchell's Fish Market - Cleveland

My experience at this restaurant was not good. The problem was definitely in the kitchen, as our server was excellent. My daughter ordered a filet mignon cooked medium rare. However, her order was forgotten and arrived 7 minutes after the other orders. When it finally arrived, it was very rare, almost raw. In addition, the mashed potatoes were excessively sweet, almost as if someone had accidentally switched the salt with sugar. When we brought this to the attention of the restaurant staff, a manager came out and told us that the potatoes were just sweeter this year. This explanation seemed strange, as my dad and I also had potato sides with our dishes and they were not sweet at all. I cook with potatoes regularly and have never encountered this issue before. It was a strange and disappointing experience to have such sweetened mashed potatoes and receive such a poor excuse from the restaurant. Whether it was a mistake in the kitchen or the actual recipe, the fact remains that the potatoes did not suddenly become sugary sweet this year, and overall the dish was not enjoyable.

My husband ordered the baked cod, which was excellent. I had the grilled shrimp, but it lacked flavor. However, the New England clam chowder was delicious. It was our first time dining at this restaurant and we found the staff to be very friendly. The majority of the patrons were males over 50 years old and there were also outdoor seating available, but we chose to sit inside as it was very quiet. The booth walls could use a good cleaning and the interior of the restaurant seemed a bit outdated. Despite this, we were not disappointed by our visit. The lunch menu looked very appealing and reasonably priced for the quality of food. We would recommend this restaurant to our friends.

We used to enjoy coming here, but the quality has really declined. The restaurant was dirty and we had to ask the waitress to clean our table before we could sit down. The food took a long time to come out, the service was below average, and the prices have increased. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but I have an issue with paying for subpar service and food.

The people were nice, but the service was so slow that I was there almost 2 hours. I sent my food back, but from the six people who went only 2.5, I liked to eat there.

We were rushed from beginning to end. The food was terrible, the lobster overcooked and rubbery. The bisque was salty and the mashed potatoes were practically soup. The server was nice, but not knowledgeable and did not care when we told him the food was not good. The one good thing was my drink-it was delicious. It was my husband's birthday and we did not stay for his free dessert-we could not wait to leave. I would never go back.
