Disappointing. Food was mediocre, most meat skewers were flavorless, veggie skewers were at least fresh. Menu otherwise lacks the diversity you'd expect from a quality yakitori place. Besides the food, the service was absolutely sad. Server seemed extremely disinterested in being in the restaurant and left several times out of the restaurant. Made mistakes with the check and with orders. Saw several customers come in and leave since they weren't greeted by anyone. Staff in the back/cooks seemed kinder and more invested than their front staff.Space is not well thought out and seems crowded and inefficient.
Do not recommend. Disappointing. Had the Omakase for 1, pork katsu sandwich and the takoyaki.Takoyaki was good.Nothing special about the katsu. Pork was a bit dry and bread was not toasted. The big let down was the skewer omakase. Two chicken skewers, and a mahi tuna skewers. All were dry and bland. The veggies skewers were a little better. Brussel sprouts drowned in kewpie mayo, pineapple was good, and the tomato was just odd.Suggested tip options were 20,25, and 30%. What?! Suggesting a 30% tip is just crazy.Should have stuck with my gut and gone for sushi.
The ambiance and decor of the venue were delightful, and the selection of sliders and beverages was exceptional. Without a doubt, this is a must-visit location in the town.
There are about 15 bar/restaurants within the boundaries of Tremont. The service and experience at Bar Oni was greater than anything I’ve come close to having at any of the others. The food, drinks, and service from Flossie were incomparable and I cannot recommend it enough. Can’t wait to go back for more.
