El Matador Mexican - Clovis

I was around the area and reading reviews and craving a good dish, I was won over to check it out. I was served my drink,salsa/chips, and my free Albondiga soup within 3 MINUTES!! Talk about fast service. Meanwhile eating my chips, I started to notice the cool bull decor. I live so close to the border I've been to a few Bullfights in TJ. The more I looked at decor the more I noticed the tiny bulls,mirrors,matador figurines, and bull heads all over. I decided on stuffed crab shrimp with rice n beans and either soup or salad. OOH MY MY FOOD ARRIVED!!!! Super big portion and so yummy! I really loved the seasoning on my shrimp/crab. A must if your in the area.

I don't know what people see in this place. I was so disappointed. I thought from the reviews it would be really good. What can I say? Ordered asada tacos and the meat had a bad taste. I could tell they took bad meat threw some salsa on it in a pan and tried to cook it together to hide the fact that it was old meat. The chips were store bought and stale. The lettuce was a bit brown and the ice tea was rancid. I won't go back unless I'm forced at gun point. The waiter was dour and had an attitude that made my meal even more unbearable. The only thing worse was I had to pay for my meal. At least I was alone. Over-all, horrible experience; I went home, washed my mouth out with baking soda and made myself throw up the little bit I ate--in case it might cause me food poisoning. Sorry to even have to write this review. Over-all thoughts. Yuck.

Albondigas soup for our starter meal the broth is good but the meat balls are store bought. .. not a good start...Strike #1 our food arrived and my bbys food was not hot . Strike #2.. asked if the mole was home made she said yes and it wasnt it was Store bought...Strike #3. heard the microwave door shut to warm up my bbys food strike #4 this place it not good... my burrito was suppose to be spicy. .. not spice at all Strike #5. Will not recommend this place... if you are looking for true authentic mexican food this is not the place.

El Matador has SOLID Mexican food!! I've never had a bad meal there. The only thing that could get better I guess would be the chips. Other than that, this place is a must. Good customer service and a hidden GEM. Have to give them a try and decide for yourself! El Matador is 5X better than that dump Jorge's Place on the SW corner of Clovis and Shaw. Better than Hacienda too!

The customer service is excellent and the food was great! Very quick service and a nice comfortable environment. The only negative thing I would say is that the chips are not homemade. Other than that we had a nice time and the michelada was very good!
