I recommend to visit with few people at once. If there are many of you, the waiter cannot be that efficient. I like the room decoration and the quality of the furniture. I recommend all the soups, pancakes and especially the fried cheese with tartar sauce the best i`ve ever had !
The Agape features traditional Hungarian painted furniture and wall pieces with motifs taken from the nearby village of Torocko. They have an extensive menu, but we normally stick to their Hungarian specialties such as chicken paprikas and the like. Don't come here for a quick bite (or if you do go to their cafeteria downstairs). The kitchen can be a bit slow. Just order a good bottle of wine, and enjoy the surroundings.
Unfortunately we had one of the worst experiences ever at Agape in Cluj-Napoca. Although we made a reservation they only had a very small menu (as they did not buy any food to prepare; which restaurant opens and does not have food to serve??? , the meat was very dry and hardly eatable. I felt very sick from the mushrooms. The white wine was warm, the waiter was impolite. As we complained to the management they seem not to care! It was very embarrassing for us as we invited some guests. We will never come back!
Sorry to say but the self service resto was serving very poor quality food! Although people were frequently coming in for a warm dish , the food was not hot , not tasty and very poor. I was expecting good Hungarian food.
We went through the trouble of getting to the restaurant (checked for the open hours and all) and apart from the fact that the restaurant room was a pain to find, we were turned away because they had some event going on. I would curse them, but I don't know if that would ban my account. Never again, who turns away their customers? It wasn't like they didn't have space, there were plenty of rooms.
