During a birthday party we met with friends at Gasthof Zum Schwarzen Bären in Coburg-Baiersdorf. Attention: The Gasthof entrance is located at a curve in the place and is slightly offset to the rear, and not visible through the Saalvorbau. The room was a little small and simply furnished, but it was enough for us. In the bathroom there could be a deposit option. Bring yourself! On the day of arrival we had dinner at the restaurant, which was quite good. Breakfast was enough and we could ask if we wanted more. It is also practical that the bus stop is right at the inn, so we could leave the car for the ride to Coburg. The good thing was that the entire ÖPNV was free on Advent Saturdays. For the ride to Coburg, get off at the Theaterplatz, centrally, and buses also drive up to the Veste. From the Veste from a beautiful view of the city and over the country. It went back to the city with a walk over the Hofgarten. Then there was enough time for a stroll in the old town and over the Coburg Christmas market. Another tip: Therme Bad Rodach, about 20 km away. Nice thermal bath with various pools inside and outside with different water temperatures, as well as a flow channel. It was nice to swim at candlelight on Friday night. There were infinitely many tealights placed in glasses everywhere and lit in the dark. Very romantic!
In the black bear there is a small selected Franconian cuisine! Price-performance ratio fits! In the annexed hall there are regular events... The rooms are clean but extremely small and spread the charm of past time...
Our food and service have convinced us. Our family immediately found something on the strongly Franconian map for every taste. But everyone had a small special wish, e.g. roast potatoes instead of pommes, bacon beans instead of salad etc. The service mastered everything friendly, sovereign and without a mistake. Respect! We would particularly like to highlight the sülze, which comes from a local butcher. Delicious! But also the warm dishes deserve a thick praise. The Cordon Bleu was juicy and powerful, the roulettes tender like butter and the bacon beans crisp. And all at very reasonable prices. Predikat: Recommended! The beer garden is in front of the building, right on the road. However, it is fenced and grown and therefore still looks cozy.
We were invited to a family celebration and found space in the beautiful historic hall. Not like elsewhere, where over years has not been refurbished, this place has kept its lten charm. The hall is over 100 years old and is looking for the construction of its same. You feel practically like it was celebrated here in the 50s and 60s. The menu is heavily regional and actually there is extra rumpsteak of all under 10 €. Here we will definitely return
