Cafe Couraca - Coimbra

Seemed popular with people on their lunch break as well as tourists so that is always a good sign. Both had the calamari which came with chips, rice salad plus beer/ wine and two espresso. €6.50 each. Lovely views over the river and clean toilets.

We had a delicious lunch vegetable soup, dorada fish grilled with potatoes, carrots and broccoli), delicious desert chocolate mousse and doce de amendoa. Superb view of the hills. Service a little rough there are a lot of customers and they have to be efficient which they are). Good prices for the quality.

We stopped by this restaurant for a quick espresso. The waiter was rude and unfriendly and directed us to a table without a view, despite the restaurant being empty. We did buy a sandwich but we were still unable to sit at a nicer table. Too many other nice, friendly cafes in Coimbra. Will not go back!!

This is a student place so you get good value and friendly service, but don 't expect anything fancy! They have a nice view overlooking the botanical garden and a menu full of their student-versions of Portuguese soul food . It is well done, but not particularly typical. Yet you won 't have spent too much to get full. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is well placed for the university campus and museums.

Simple but good and friendly cafe/eatery right behind University. Frequented by students and locals. Lunch and dinner same prices. Simple canteen like interior but fantastic view across Mondego river and mountains.Good standard Portuguese plate service fare. Efficient and friendly staff.Good prices.
