The first time I went to waters edge I paid $12 for 4 crab stuffed mushroom, not only was there no crab, the mushrooms were very small. The second and last time I went in I ordered the Cod with side of fries. My Cod was over cooked and my fries were cold and were obviously cooked in dirty oil as they were stained In certain spots. When I asked for a new meal cooked properly the old lady waitress scowled and rudely stated she would take it off my bill.. I'm hungry, cook me a good meal. If I wanted a bad meal I'd make myself food at home. I went out for the service.. i got some of the worst treatment i have ever had in my history of eating out. Please stay away from this restaurant. It gives cold lake a bad name.
Had fish and chips and poutine, fish was very thin would be my only complaint but overall we'd go back! The service was fantastic, friendly greeting from when we walked in and our waitress was really great! Great setting, we sat outside with the view! Great place!!
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It is in a great location. I have been there before when it was under different management/ownership and it was pretty great... but when I went there for lunch this past Sunday I was really disappointed. The service and food may have been a little off due to flooding that closed a portion of the restaurant, but if that was the case it may have been better to close the restaurant all together than to offer such lackluster service and food. I ordered a Chicken Avocado salad which, despite the description, had no avocado. It was basically the house salad with a little over-cooked chicken thrown on top. When we asked about the avocado, the server said, "oh, did you want some? I can bring some on a plate for you." The tone of voice implying that it was a huge kindness on her part to even suggest it. We also asked about the garlic bread the menu said came with it, her response was, "Oh, we used to serve garlic bread with salads, but we don't anymore... so we took it off the menu." Which was obviously not true, the only reason we thought we would get garlic bread with our salads was because the menu said it came with garlic bread. When she did come back with a plate of avocado for use to share it was really unripe and woody... maybe the reason they didn't add it to our salad. But if you don't have a key ingredient, perhaps tell people before they order it. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves because we could laugh at the appalling food (we really could make much better at home and with almost less fuss)
This restaurant was previously opened under this name under different owners. It was not particularly good at that time. Normally when a restaurant closes and reopens it tries to flip to a new page. This restaurant did not get the memo. The service is abysmal. I don't think the fault is on the wait staff to be honest. I think the management here is inept. The menu has less than 10 items on it. The menu is presented to you in a plastic page protector. I had the fish and chips when I went. The reason? It was the only reasonably priced menu item. $17 for a frozen hamburger? Come on, this restaurant is in Cold Lake a place surrounded by incredibly fertile farmland that raises some of the best beef in the world. I did not expect much from the fish and chips considering Alberta does not have a thriving fishery and we are not overly well known for potatoes however I did expect whatever was presented to be properly cooked. The fish was disgustingly greasy. The chips were so sad they drooped. As others have said, the view is good. Unfortunately for this beautiful location it is being abused by some horrendous management/owners doing it a horrible disservice. Perhaps next time a restaurant closes and reopens in this location it'll open with some passion and cooking ability.
