Great dinner in a beautiful part of Tasmania. Will be back!
The Iluka tavern in Coles Bay is an unprepossessing building, sat across the road from a waterside park amongst a small collection of businesses. Inside the modern furnishings and fit out gave it a more contemporary feel. The menu included plenty of classic pub dishes, with a couple of less typical items.
Great with little kids!. Iluka Tavern was our choice for lunch on this particular day and all I can say is that the seafood was delicious! Although the broth was somewhat salty, the mussels were executed to a very high level and all the other meals my group ordered were great overall. The best bit about this place was the play room for the little ones; it's well designed and allowed the adults to have a moment of piece. On the opposite end of the spectrum was the service, which was mediocre at best; there is nothing worse than finding out that what you want off the menu is unavailable. It get's your hopes up and then dumps you down. It's also not very difficult to say a sentence when handing out the menus. Also made me feel a little bit like we were an inconvenience. Oh well, still worth a visit for the food.
Good food wine. Great service, large portion sizes. Had a chicken parmagiana and a schnitzel. Apple crumble for dessert was excellent and huge! Would return. Stop serving meals at 8pm so can't be too late.
