Very hidden location and unsuspecting exterior, but, waiter was supremely knowledgeable of both the food and wine, intelligent, courteous, and accommodating without being pretentious. I was recommended the blackened filet of sole for lunch, and I am certain that it was the best meal i've ever had.. Despite spending twice and three times as much at other restaurants for inferior quality. Highly reccommended.
My wife and I arrived around 9:35 on Saturday night. As we were walking up the open sign went off. As the hours on the door and the web indicated they were open until 10:00 we were suprised. My wife and her kids, who all live in Colleyville, had been there once before and raved about both the food and the atmosphere. As we go out a couple of times a month she was very excited to take me to a place so close to home. I was excited as well. Upon entering the waiter who had turned off the light looked as though he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He still had his hand on the controller. I asked him if they were still open..he mumbled and my wife said someone turned the sign off but the sign said they were open until 10:00, could we still eat. He said it should be ok but he would check. At that point a very annoyed hostess walked up and said she would ask the chef if it was okay for us to eat. We did not wait for her return. Perhaps the staff was under the impression we should have considered ourselves fortunate if we were granted the opportunity to be seated and order 25 minutes before the posted business hour said they closed. We have lived within a few minutes of this restaurant for 20 plus years...our parents and our children also live within minutes. Never in my years of eating out have I been made to feel less welcome. Many years ago while in college I bartended ar Routh Street Cafe as well as Jean Claudes. Both owners and chefs stressed treating all customers as if they were personal friends, because fine dining thrives by word of mouth. I am insulted and shall not return, and I will at every opportunity tell all the people I know in the area that their patronage is neither needed nor appreciated. Business is clearly so good that they decide if you are are worthy of keeping the open sign on in keeping with their posted hours. My wife and I so enjoyed being treated with disdain and disgust for daring to walk in 20 minutes before closing and expecting to be seated.
We had Citrus Bistro cater my mother's Birthday Party. Nanou helped me with all the arrangements. The day of the party we had just over 20 people, and Jean Luc meet us at the door and took us to our table. The Menu was perfect, all the guest found items they loved. Citrus Bistro also paired the wines with the menu and it was a perfect choice. I will be back and I would definitely recommend them to my friends.
Citrus is the name of the restaurant and is a theme that makes it through much of the food. It is terrific food which shows a definite French heritage. I had a fried soft shell crab, that was crisp on the outside, moist/tender inside and just bursting with great flavor. My girlfriend and the other couple with us loved their entrees as well. We shared a dessert. One of the co-owners, Didier, is a accomplished pastry chef and it shows. Leave room for dessert, you will not regret it. The entrees are not cheap, but since the place is BYOB, you get a good value overall. We will be going back...often!
Indescribable! This is 5 star service and food outside the major city. I've eaten in all the food capitals of the world and this is world class cuisine. Chef Didier is a master and runs a great kitchen. I can't wait to get back there. 12/2016 it CLOSED. I'm sorry for that. Colleyville lost a treasure.
