The food was great and very delicious. The beans could have been cooked a bit more. But teh Egg plant, Bitter gourd and fish dished were tasty. Teh yellow rice also wasn't very oily.
Commendably managed by Agriculture Ministry Hela Bojun offers a variety of local food and drink, under hygienic conditions
You can find an array of typical Sri Lankan village food here at very reasonable prices. Hela Bojun is a concept introduced by the Department of Agriculture, Peradeniya. It is a remarkable concept. It provides Sri Lankan village type freshly cooked food prepared by self-employed women, giving these women an opportunity to make a living. The concept is similar to a food court in a Mall, except it is a sort of single cuisine. Each cook will prepare their own speciality food. It is a cash only operation. Behind this 'food market ' you will find a plant nursery where you could buy typical Sri Lankan vegetable, fruit, spices and flower plants.
