The restaurant offers a beautiful view and ambiance by the ocean. Unfortunately, the food is lacking. I tried the Abadejo al Roquefort, recommended by the waiter, for UYU 798 (US $20). While I understand Uruguay can be pricey, I expected a more flavorful meal. The fish was bland and watery, and the dish lacked color and appeal. I'm hesitant to try another dish for fear of wasting another $20.
After spending three weeks traveling all over Argentina, I took a ferry to Colonia and stopped at a local place for a drink before dinner. Despite the bar next door being fully booked, we were welcomed by Martin at this restaurant. I was originally just looking for a place to relax and have a drink, but ended up buying a bottle of local white wine and some bread to enjoy the view. There was a nice couple at the next table, so I asked Martin if they had any sparkling wine that I could send to them. He offered me a bottle of Chandon for 60 US dollars, but after haggling, I paid only 30. Overall, Colonia is a charming and historic town, but the service at these establishments left something to be desired.
This restaurant is the perfect choice for lunch. Despite it being a busy day, we were still attended to with great service. The live music added to the ambiance and was quite enjoyable.
Cute place in Colônia de Sacramento
