I ordered a vegetable and potato dish with Raclette because I couldn't wait to indulge in my favorite cheese. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite a disappointment. The owner/chef brought over a huge wheel of cheese, but it was burnt and had a black crust. He shaved some of it onto my dish and then just left. Aside from the gin and tonics, everything else was below mediocre.
The service left much to be desired; the two servers were inattentive, disengaged, and unwelcoming, making it feel like they were just waiting to clock out. The restaurant was far from busy, with fewer than 20% of the tables occupied. It also felt uncomfortably warm inside (while the AC seemed to be working in the restrooms, it did not appear to be functioning in the dining area), and we had to deal with gnats flying around our table. To make matters worse, both cars in our party received parking tickets despite being parked directly in front of the restaurant. When we asked the servers if this was a common occurrence, they confirmed it was. I was disappointed to learn that this is a known issue, yet no one informed us about parking options behind the bar area. Overall, the food was below average, the service was lacking, the atmosphere was insufficient, and communication/customer engagement was poor. If the food had been excellent, we might have overlooked one or two of these problems, but with everything combined, we won’t be returning, especially with so many other great restaurants in the area. **Parking:** There is a small, hidden parking lot behind the bar area. If you park on the street without a Permit A, you will receive a $50 ticket from the city of Columbus.
I visited this restaurant for dinner, and it was my first experience with German cuisine. The Brussels sprouts were delicious, and the fried cabbage with vegan sausage was absolutely outstanding. I used to underestimate German food, but this place has changed my mind. You should definitely give it a try; I think you'll really enjoy it! Food: 5/5
On Saturday evening (6/24), my family of 6 went to Alpine 614 for dinner. At the time, there was only 1 other table occupied at the time. We had some questions regarding the appetizers and the server seemed to be bothered with our questions. We preceded to order 5 appetizers for the table and all the appetizers were average in quality and taste. We also ordered a bottle of wine for the table and the server never asked if we wanted anything else. The server came back over and asked for our main course orders and (once again) was unpleasant . She never took the plates away from all the appetizers and the table was covered with plates. My brother asked if we could have the table cleaned up and she never came back. My brother had to remove all the plates from the table and placed them all at the table next to us. Our main courses arrived and we were disappointed. The bill was $320 without the tip for below average food and horrible service. At the end, we were never asked if we wanted any desserts, coffee, etc. After the dinner (plates were never removed) we had to go up to the bar and ask for the check. It was a disappointing experience and we would never go back. What a shame! They could don better!
