The black bean mushroom burger was also delicious, although it was a bit messy since it was homemade. I didn't detect much mushroom flavor in it, which may have been the reason for its loose texture.
Great food and great ambiance . Very clever how they have taken a state historic penitentiary and turned it into a gathering place.
I finally had the chance to visit this restaurant on Father's Day, but unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The place seemed cool to check out, but we didn't get the chance to try their beers or food. Despite there being quite a few customers, with the place only half full, my partner and I walked in and stood at the bar for 4 or 5 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the 3 employees behind the bar. We finally had to ask if they were serving beer that day, to which they responded vaguely. We managed to order and receive one beer, but encountered issues with ordering a second and third. The Big House IPA we ended up with was tasty but served warmer than we would have preferred. Despite paying for our drinks in cash and receiving a bit of brief interaction, we were pretty much ignored for the rest of our visit. We sat at a table near the hostess stand, right by the bar, but none of the servers bothered to speak to us, offer a menu, or ask if we needed anything. We were quite surprised and decided to finish our drinks and take our business elsewhere. It was a disappointing experience overall.
The food at this restaurant is delicious.
