My favorite Mexican restaurant, ever! Chicken chimichanga, and Manny’s margaritas are my favorites. I’ve been going to Senor Manuels’s since 1974.
I’ve been going to Señor Manuel’s since I moved here nineteen years ago. My family has been friends with the owners and staff (props to Billy—I think that’s his name—who is one of Manuel’s best employees) for a long time. It’s a great place that serves quality Mexican food. One of the best Mexican food restaurants in Colorado Springs. Prices are low to average and the servings are plentiful. The chips aren’t stale and the salsa has a nice spice! The queso is a great price as it comes in a big sharing-sized dish. I’m not a drinker, but I know that the alcoholic refreshments are a hit. If I want Mexican food in Colorado Springs, I am going to Señor Manuel’s!Parking: Front lines and back lot
This place has a lot to be desired, the food was terrible. The Flautas had some dark meat inside that I thought was chicken, but I’m not sure what kind of meat it was, after eating some. Now my stomach hurts! The sauce was very watery and had no taste, this is not the type of flautas I have ever had anywhere else. I can see why nobody makes them like this. The corn tortillas were very dry and extremely hard on the bottom. Disgusting!!Why do they charge so much when the food is this bad!The strawberry margarita was Slurpee like and did not have much, if any alcohol. It tasted like a non-alcoholic drink, one you get from 7-Eleven. The service was good, nice waitress, but I wish they could tell you how bad the food really is and recommend you to go somewhere else. I am not sure how this place has stay in business since 1970. This is one local that will never come back or ever recommend it to anyone!!!P.S. What is up with that hot sauce or should I say tomato sauce out of a can? That was beyond terrible!!!!
Señor Manuel's Restaurant Review A Staple with Room for Culinary RefinementLocated at the bustling intersection of Nevada and Garden of the Gods, Señor Manuel's Restaurant is a fixture in the Colorado Springs dining scene, with a legacy that spans decades. This eatery invites a diverse clientele, from locals with storied connections to the establishment, to newcomers eager to explore its offerings.Upon entering, diners are warmly greeted with a serving of chips and salsa, setting a welcoming tone from the outset. The chips, notable for their crisp texture, pair exceptionally well with the salsa. Unlike the thicker, robust salsas one might expect, Señor Manuel's version leans towards a thinner consistency. This lighter, more watered down approach doesn't skimp on taste, offering a tangy and enjoyable start to the meal. However, as the dining experience progresses, Señor Manuel's reveals a culinary juxtaposition. The menu, abundant in traditional Mexican dishes, suggests a rich tapestry of flavors. Yet, the execution often lands in the realm of mediocrity. While authenticity is not in question, the dishes tend to lack the depth and boldness anticipated from such an established venue. Generous servings do little to overshadow the fact that the food, overall, doesn't quite meet the expectations set by the delightful appetizer.Service at Señor Manuel's, however, is a redeeming feature. The staff showcases a commendable level of attentiveness and a genuine commitment to ensuring a pleasant dining experience. Moreover, the restaurant's ambiance carries a certain nostalgic charm, reflective of its storied history within the community. In sum, while Señor Manuel's Restaurant excels in creating an inviting atmosphere with its exemplary chips and uniquely thin salsa, the main offerings fall short of the culinary excellence one might hope for. It remains a destination for those drawn to establishments rich in history and character, yet it underscores the ever present challenge of balancing tradition with the pursuit of gastronomic distinction.
