Great little place to stop of either an ice cream for of course the famous poutine. Very well situated
We were at Woods last summer and had a bad experience, but when I went online to review them, they were not already on Trip Advisor, and I did not have their details. Today, I was going online to write a review for the fabulous Le 5e Element Restaurant next door, and saw this Laiterie had been listed. Finally I can speak my mind.......We are Anglophone Canadians with some French, and Compton is mere minutes from the USA. We live some of the year close to Compton, and have tried many of the restaurants and fast food joints in the area, from Sherbrooke to Magog, from Stanstead to Easton. Whilst we occasionally run into someone whose English is worse than the French we usually try to start interactions with, this is a tourist area, and it seems people are used to having to resort to English in order to make a sale. NOT AT THIS PLACE. The young woman behind the counter was dour and unhelpful when I asked - in my poor French - what sous-marin meant. In fact, it was the other members of my group who told me. She either pretended not to understand or has no English. Either way, a bit strange for a place that must make most of its living in the summer off tourists? Not to mention that she could hardly take the order for the disdain dripping off her face - I had my step mum with me who is nearly 80 and does not speak French at all, and this gal was positively rude to her. We will never go there again, and we take our visitors to Compton quite regularly. I noticed that the only thing on the Community Bulletin Board was an ad for a PQ fundraiser. So, I think her rudeness was political, and this has no place in a place of business in a town for tourists.Avoid like the plague!
Do not miss this place! Excellent food in a small town. Solid wood tables are beautiful and comfy seating, no hard plastic chairs. Big and mini Wood burgers reminds us big macs, but are much better tasting. Great pizzas, sandwiches, poutines with local cheese. Meal size salads on the menu also. Prices are very reasonable. Terrasse and inside restaurant seating available. Dairy bar service through terrasse window. Polite, bilingual service.
Best food every! If you are into burgers, poutine or steamed hot dogs, this is YOURE place! After discovering this gem, we ate their everyday for three days. The iced cream (from Coaticook) cones and the variety of toppings is amazing. The service was a bit off, but this a minor price to pay for great dinner style food.
