To my surprise I saw this little café open...and served happily (although few) people. I ordered Egg roasted rice and chicken manchurian and boy oh boy it was delicious. But when I visited Hampi last week (14th-15th Jan), I found this place shaved. They asked with the locals and informed that this was demolished a few weeks ago for illegal construction. God, I'm going to miss this place (my late night hunger savior).
This family boasts on of the nicest kitchens on Hampi Island. They have a really nice bar/resto on the upper level, heavily shaded. Big beautiful mango tree complete with monkeys, cats, and children. Their wifi is really strong as opposed to other restaurants- they have...a generator so they are able to have wifi if power goes out during the day. Really good food- I eat here 2-3 times a week. Located right outside the hustle bustle. They rent bikes and motorbikes as well
Tandoori. While other cafes in Hampi are not serving authentic tandoori dishes because it's currently the 'off season,' Rasta Cafe is excelling in all things tandoori. My wife and I ordered paneer tikka and an eggplant curry on our first night on the 'other side' of Hampi. The homemade paneer was perfectly firm yet bouncy, with a delicious tikka paste cooked in a clay oven. It was served with hot chips, which was a nice touch. The eggplant curry was rich and flavorful. Rasta Cafe also had amazing music playing, introducing me to my new favorite artist, Gramatik. We returned the next night for Paneer Tikka Hariyali and garlic naan, which were both fantastic. The manager even offered to not charge us if we were not satisfied with our meal. I'm sure their meat options for tandoori dishes would be just as impressive. This place is a hidden gem compared to the other popular spots in Hampi. Don't miss out on this great dining experience.
If you are in the mood to relax and enjoy some funny hours with the brothers of the rasta cafe while drinking exelent chai and taste delicious food! Maybe a beer? ; Thats definately the place to go in hampi! Thank you guys!
I went to dinner with friends here at night. The restaurant is usually crowded. I liked Chinese dishes here. It'll be back.
