A passing waiter opened the door and greeted is as we walked up, then we were immediately greeted by the hostess who smiled and directed us to a table on a well kept patio, under a tilted umbrella to block the mid day sun. We started with iced tea, which was freshly brewed and did not taste like tea bag. I usually don't mention my beverage in reviews, but I am a bit of an iced tea snob. I drink it fast too, and I never saw the bottom of the glass. We ordered spinach dip, which is usually a greasy mess of cheese, but this stuff was different. Bright green perfectly cooked spinach and big chunks of artichoke bubbling in a blend of cheese that was just enough to make it a dip. This was served with a generous portion of fresh angle cut baguette, toasted and lightly seasoned with oil and herbs. This was outstanding. Next I ordered the double cut pork chop. With bacon jalapeno Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. My wife had the shrimp and grits. Let me just say that we both let out a tandem expletive when treating our first bites of what turned out to be one of the best meals we recall having in a very long time. The pork was perfectly cooked, moist on the inside with a crispness on the outside that gave it a flavor very similar to fresh hot cracklins. The seasoning was spot on. Served with a side of the glaze to dip. I didn't know what to make of the dip at first because I am not usually a fan of sweet food. It complemented the pork and made me kind of emotional.... The Mac n cheese. Normally I don't get it. I feel like everybody does it, and it's been reinvented to the point of boring. But Jalapeno's always tempt me. Let me tell you, it was rediculous. Fresh Jalapeno's swimming in a gooey cheese sauce with bacon.... The mashed potatoes were great too. My wife's shrimp and grits was... well, amazing... Perfect cooked shrimp, sausage, onions, cheese, spices, butter, man oh man. The only thing I would recommend if you are not a huge lover of grits would be to split it between a few people. It's very rich and the flavor, while amazing, gets old after a bit. We didn't have deserts. The prices are very fair for the quality of the food. Go here. I am sure that anything you get will be a fantastic version of that thing.
I was introduced to this place by a friend. We had lunch and I enjoyed the Texas Veggie Salad. It was soooooo good! My husband and I had dinner there about 3 weeks ago and again another wonderful experience. He had chicken fried steak, jalapeno corn and bacon jalapeno mac and cheese. I had the TRG Top Chop (OMG) with corn bread and mashed potatoes. We also tried the crab cakes, mac n cheese bite and finished with brownie. All of it was AMAZING. Will be back for sure.
Our go to place, never had a bad meal....Always guaranteed a awesome meal. Love this place...
Loved the food and we received wonderful service by Madison. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp appetizer, Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, bacon jalapeño Mac cheese, B.L.A.T (bacon lettuce avocado tomato) on the jalapeño bread and the sweet potato fries! Yum!!!
I have been here a multitude of times and it never disappoints. The food, the service and the ambiance are all excellent. The gumbo here is the closest to what my wife makes at home. When we have visitors from out of town this is the place we take them to for the most pleasant Woodlands restaurant experience. If there is any thing to complaints about, it would be the parking... This is a popular place and you will probably have to hunt for a parking place and wait to be seated.
