It was delicious and surprisingly more affordable than our usual local pubs and restaurants. The staff was friendly, the hotel was lovely, and the surroundings were beautiful. Definitely worth a visit!
Traveled for 1.5 hours for Sunday dinner and was greeted warmly by the staff. The reception rooms were impressive, with cozy coal and gas fires. I started with the smoked duck and had turkey, while my partner enjoyed avocado and crayfish followed by roast beef. The presentation of the food was excellent, but the bread rolls could have been homemade and served warm. Some of the dishes seemed to be lacking in quantity. Frozen Yorkshire puddings were disappointing, and it appeared that the roast meats were not cooked on-site. The roast potatoes seemed frozen, and the mash didn't seem freshly made. I ended the meal with the sherry trifle cake, which unfortunately lacked sherry. Despite these shortcomings, I enjoyed my time at the restaurant and appreciated the ambience of the building. I recommend utilizing the on-site chefs to improve the dining experience. I will give 5 stars on my next visit if these issues are addressed.
We went to this restaurant for a family celebration lunch leading up to Christmas, as we have visited many times before. The restaurant is housed in an old Abbey/Hall with a rich history, giving it a rustic charm and excellent value for money. We started with drinks in the bar, where the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was festive with real fires burning in each fireplace and a beautiful Christmas tree in the reception area. Our 3-course meal was fantastic, as always, and the rustic and characterful nature of the building added to the overall experience of a lovely Christmas celebration. This is what Christmas is all about. Thank you.
Good food choice cooked well and presentation was good. Also it represents good value for money for a 2 or 3 course meal
Visited this Hotel in November 2019 to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday celebrations, stayed overnight. Set in beautiful surroundings, very quiet. It was like staying in a beautiful country mansion. One suite, photo enclosed had two single beds decorated as a royal bed, which was lovely for the boy and girl that slept there as we called them Prince and Princess, the bed had royal crests on them. Lots of lovely private sitting rooms beautifully decorated where we all came together. Very friendly staff. We had dinner in a private dining room, food excellent, plenty of choice. Excellent breakfast with full welsh breakfast, cereal bar and plenty of toast, unlimited tea or coffee. Rooms are excellently fitted, washing line over bath, spare heater, hair dryer, drinks, t.v. and Net Flix. It is not perfect, some decorations needs finishing, the window in my loft room had rotted and open to the weather, if you find the room cold when you arrive, adjust the radiator settings to come on.
