The coffee was the best that we had in the region, and it was pleasing to see a large number of locals calling in for morning caffeine hit.I have no hesitation in recommending this location for breakfast or a high quality morning tea.
The cafe is nice and clean and the staff very friendly. The service was reasonable, what you would expect with young girls aka like maccas !The toasted sandwich wasn't really toasted and as it was a ham, cheese, tomato and onion you would expect a molten mass , but alas was cold and cheese hardly melted. As it was cold wifey ordered the soup of the day, Pumpkin, but alas was like a watered down tin version, not the home made blackboard as indicated.Oh coffee was lukewarm also. Having said, the sanger is what I wanted, but was a little disappointed in what I received, wouldn't be hard to make a 5 star place by just a little more effort.
Having stopped in Cooma for lunch on the way to the South Coast, we asked advice on somewhere to eat of a chap outside P. D Murphy's cafe. The reply was quick, "in here, I own it! No fish and chips or burgers, just good food." May not suit some but we were happy to try it. No complaints, adequate range of sandwiches, wraps, and other lunch options, plus sweet offerings. We opted for frittata with salad and a couple of sandwiches along with tea. Quite sufficient for us, food tasty, prompt, pleasant service and bill very pleasing. All we needed when travelling. There is a sign near the register: "We don't serve fast food. We serve good food, as fast as we possibly can!" Reflected in our visit.
We were doing a walking tour of Cooma and, after a visit to an antique shop, decided to grab a coffee at PD Murphy's. Good decision. Décor is modern with a variety of seating styles and historical photographs of PD's on the wall. The coffee was very nice and service was quick. It is evidently popular with the locals as well as tourists.
Leaving Thredbo always makes us sad so we stop in Cooma to prolong the holiday break! This time we checked out an antique shop in the main drag before heading to P.D Murphy Cafe for a coffee. We ordered the usual - 2 flat whites, one on soy. Beautiful tasting coffee, large mugs smaller than other places but coffee hot & strong just the way I like it. Trying to be good, so no cakes but there was a huge selection of delicious looking cakes & quite a few gluten free options. Watching the other customers orders coming out, the service was quick & the portion sizes very reasonable. Different variety of seating - tables to eat at & lounges to relax on. There were toilets too so ticked all the boxes.
