Food excellent, service excellent, good selection of alcoholic drinks and soft drinks (including proper Coca-Cola in cans), and I will definitely be eating here again, food was delicious and a great range of different things to try, including some amazing looking Onion Bhaji's I didn't get to try this time. Cannot rate bathroom or toilet facilities as I didn't use them.
After a nice jant up Scaffell Pike, I needed a nice hot meal with a cold drink and this place in my opinion hit the spot. The place is quite deceiving it looks small from the outside but it does extend to the back. I was seated straight away and was handed the menu and ordered my first cold drink...oh yes Kingfisher, it was cold and went down well so well I ordered another when I ordered my meal. For starters Lamb tikka Main Meal was chicken in Chilli and Garlic Masala with Pilau Rice and a Nan Bread. So whilst I waited I scanned the place, walls were painted white with a few paintings and and ornaments equally placed. For me it was nicely down, not overdone but just about right. Seats were well cushioned and comfy and tables were clean. Not long to wait before my starter came out. The waiter placed the small plate in front of me and he came back with a sizzling plate and placed it nicely on the wee plate, a nice personal touch. It came with a dipping sauce, can't really describe it. It was like a like mayo but not as thick and quite refreshing. The plate also came with lettuces tomatoes and cucumber ??? IMO old fashion and should be replaced with something else like spicy onion? So the tikka went down well and next up was my mains. The meal smelled amazing and was full of flavour, the sauce had a touch of sweetness in it was quite nice and different from the other chilli garlic meals I had in Scotland or maybe I didn't notice it before but it was amazingly good and well balanced. The meal was spicy and I didn't get all sweaty on the back of my neck as I normally would although as I was 3/4 through it I did start to sweat a little. The pilau rice was nice fluffy so no complaint there. The Nam bread was cooked perfectly, not overly burnt, soft and tearable. Just the correct size for one person. Staff was attentive so no complaint there, Kingfisher beer could come in a larger size or maybe I was just thirsty from my walk. Price wise it was about 28 quid so yes would happily pay that for a delish meal, but please get rid of the tomato lettuce and cucumber side. The plates (a little old fashion looking) could had been warmed up before serving too, but I'm happy to give it 5 for this. Well deserved.
Had a great meal last night. I went with the chef's recommendation and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Poppadoms were fresh and the naan was of decent quality. The owner had a good chat with us and all the staff were faultless. A great experience.
Great choice of food.Execptionally tasty nice portion size.
