The owner came out and returned our tip from the table, stating that we shouldn’t insult his waitress like that. We had left more than 15%, and I’m not sure what the waitress did to deserve more than that. Additionally, the food wasn’t particularly impressive. Not wanting to discover how unfriendly the rest of the town might be, we decided to leave. I found the owner's behavior to be very inconsiderate. Given the current economic climate, I would be grateful to receive any tip at all. How rude!
I have never encountered such rude people. After we finished our meal and paid the bill, we stood outside enjoying the evening when the owner approached us and returned our tip. He said he didn’t want to offend his waitress. We had tipped over 15%, and honestly, I wasn’t sure what the waitress had done to deserve more than that, especially since the service wasn’t great. I didn’t want to find out how rude the rest of the staff might be, so we decided to leave. I found the owner's behavior to be completely unacceptable. In this economy, I’d be grateful just to receive any tip at all. How rude!
The Tamarack Inn has been under new management since November 2018, and it's a fantastic place to dine!
We just ordered from this restaurant, and the owner confronted me about not leaving a tip for the waitress. I explained that I've never felt pressured to tip when placing an order. He insisted that he believes tips are important because waitstaff rely on them to make a living. I told him I wouldn’t be returning and would advise others against dining here, to which he replied that was fine with him. After reading previous reviews, I can confidently say that with such a dismissive attitude from the owner, this restaurant won’t last much longer. I recommend eating at Zik’s instead; they offer much better service!
