The service is very friendly. The food is decent, but not particularly unique or exciting. It's a nice place to have lunch.
When I questioned the server about this discrepancy, they tried to brush it off and insisted that it was a misunderstanding. I was extremely disappointed by their lack of transparency and felt cheated out of my money. To make matters worse, the chicken skewers were dry and overcooked, leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not be returning.
The Basil House is a flavourful treat plunked in the middle of a suburban strip mall filled with banal food venues. Yesterday the door was open to let in the breeze but a reserved black and red screen kept the interior quiet and apart from the exterior busyness. The service was efficient and I quickly had a very tasty chicken pad thai lunch that included a small spring roll and a tiny salad, all for under $10. I also ordered a lychee flavoured iced green tea which was short on iciness and long on unwanted sugar but I was otherwise very happy with my lunch. There are several other choices on the lunch special list as well as the regular menu to order from.
