We ordered three different rams from the menu, and while none were terrible, none were great. I understand that in the Tri-Cities region there is a tenacity of Rammen restaurants, so I can assume that some of the above average reviews come from this simple fact. In the larger area of Vancouver there are a lot of fantastic raven restaurants that make Takano pal compared. You won't hate it if you eat here, but I wouldn't leave my way to have another meal here.
I was in Japan in July 2017, but it was just too hot to eat ramen, so for my birthday I decided to give Takano an attempt. I ordered Miss Raben, my favorite time and my sister-in-law ordered plant frames. We ordered a page from Gyoza and a page from Kimchee. The ramen was boiled, which surprised me. But it softened when I ate it. It came fast after we had ordered what was nice. The service was friendly. The owners are Koreans, but speak English. The broth in the fog was very good. I added a hot pepper that was available at the table. The piece of meat on the soup was very good. I wish there were more! The Kimchee is hot, but not divine. And the Gyoza was good. I missed the Tokyo Style sauce with sesame oil. The price was nice. $40 after tax and tip for 3 people. Not bad! The tea was nice too. It could have been Moogicha, but I didn't ask. This is a nice little mother and pop restaurant that I will visit again.
Definitely the best ramen outside downtown Ramen restaurants. The depth of taste in broth and consistency of noodles is not the same as what you would find in downtown, but then I am quite picky. Also, you don't get an egg with your soup here. The Gyozas we had, however, were very tasty and among the best I tasted in the lower mainland. Service was also very friendly. All in all, I would go back, but not too far out of my way here. But I'm going to Kintaro from Poco so you're saying what my feelings are on the matter and how much I enjoy ramen.
This small almost hole in the wall restaurant serves the best ramen I have ever tasted. The menus is limited but consistently good. They also do their own gyoza which I count among the best I have ever tasted.
