Contribuisci feedbackMy wife and I went with very high expectations. The reviews for Punta Sal are quite good. The concept sounds great: Peruvian and Asian-themed fusion food. Most of all, the promise of fresh fish beckoned us: it is seemingly impossible to find good fish in...Córdoba. Maybe Punta Sal would be the exception! I retract that seemingly and amend my statement: It is simply impossible to find good fish in Córdoba. Many (maybe most of the restaurant's dishes feature seafood, and given the reviews here on TripAdvisor, I was really hoping for the best. While the seafood at Punta Sal wasn't off by any means, it wasn't as fresh as we would have liked. We were particularly disappointed by the ceviche, which requires the very freshest, brightest flavors to be successful. Instead, the ceviche was sort of mud-colored mess. We also ordered the seafood chow mein, which was essentially canned fish mixed with noodles and soy sauce. I liked the fried chicken more than my wife did. But it was nothing special. If you're familiar with how extraordinary Peruvian chicken can be, this wasn't even in the same ballpark. The space was a bit run-down. The waitress was nice and attentive. The prices were reasonable. (But, then, what does it mean to have reasonable prices for food that isn't very good I can only guess as to why Punta Sal has received such good reviews. Perhaps people who have lived their entire lives in Córdoba aren't familiar with what fresh fish should taste like. Perhaps other reviewers have been living in Córdoba for so long that they have forgotten.
I'd like to start off this review by mentioning that this restaurant has MOVED! It is no longer located at Gral Manuel Belgrano They are now located in Barrio General Paz, at ESQUIU I wanted to write a review on TripAdvisor for this...restaurant because as an expat in Córdoba, I'm always looking for something different than the typical Argentine pizza, lomo, empanadas routine. Punta Sal delivers variety and the quality is next level. My husband (who is a chef and a tough food critic) and I have enjoyed going to Punta Sal over and over and it is one of our favorite restaurants in Córdoba. The owners are a Peruvian couple, the husband is a chef and the wife runs the dining room, and you can tell they are dedicated to their craft. About the restaurant: The new restaurant is much larger than the old location, which is perfect since they always had a line outside at the old place. They have pictures on their menu to help guests understand some plates that might be new for diners. The food: They have a great variety of many Peruvian favorites such as ceviches, chaufa rice, goat dishes, meat dishes, Peruvian fried chicken and more. My personal recommendations are the Ceviche Nikkei which is an interesting Peruvian Japanese fusion ceviche. We also enjoy the mixed ceviche, pollo broaster, and arroz chaufa con mariscos.
