South County Café Douglas - Cork

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent. This was one of the cutest pubs we visited in Donnybrook. I highly recommend it!

This place truly represents Ireland. The server was helpful and always came by to see how I was enjoying the meal. I came in a little early for lunch, but they were still able to make it. I had an Irish Coffee, a meat pie and would love to have stayed longer if not for the fact that I had somewhere to be. This would be a place never to forget, and if I ever have the luck to return to Cork, I would definitely have to come here. It was on random luck I decided to stop in, and I am more than thrilled that I had that opportunity.

We had so much fun. Any time we talk of our trip to Ireland, the fond memories of the fun we had at South County Bar always makes the conversation. Very much worth an evening (or two).

SOUTH COUNTY Met a few friends at the South County in Douglas one night this week. I really liked this expanded bar. Big bars are sometimes like a big shed but good use has been of the space here which has been arranged into a series of nooks (some bigger than others) but all within easy reach of the counter. Indeed, the friendly staff here are pro-active . I was on my way to the counter when an assistant met me, took the order and delivered it to the table. It was a little on the late side for the food but they do operate a cafe here, more than likely to the same high standards. Impressed too with the toilets. These are clean and spacious and the walls are decorated with a series of saucy postcard type cartoons. I was having a laugh but the fellow next to me, obviously a regular, said he 'd seen them all before and more than once!

A great place for either a local drink or a superb meal.. They have recently updated the menu and ensured they kept old favorites and added some great new options.. Salads and scampi are real favorites for us..
