Stopped for a cream tea…. Even though they were plain scones, they were the lightest scones I have ever eaten…. Jam and cream were good, plus a large pot of tea…where you had a couple of cups each. Service very good and the lady was very friendly…..highly recommended, as everything coming out of the kitchen looked very good.
Went in for a quick hot drink to warm us on a wet and windy morning. Decided to treat ourselves to two hot chocolates with cream and marshmallows. The drink wasn't very hot but, worst of all, ended up costing us a whopping £10!! We hadn't seen a menu. Looking back on Google, nine months ago they cost only £3.50 each. Mmmmmm.
Very disappointed. Family of 4, so two small children . Two empty tables and we noticed a couple of stools by the wall so assumed they can only mean they can be used! Greeted by a stern shout from across the room by a lady “that table isn’t big enough for 4” then carried on with whatever she was doing. No apology, no relational skills. Disgusting in fact. Real shame as the cafe looked beautiful. Owning a business myself I work my ass off, it’s hard going but manners cost nothing. Maybe she doesn’t like families coming in? Very upsetting for all of us when we just wanted a quiet sit down and some drinks and food. Will not be returning.
A very mixed day, sunny then raining so we decided to go grab some drinks when the rain came. Table of 2 was free but there were two small stools that we pulled up for our two girls to sit on. A very stern lady appeared (wore glasses) and told us to leave, maybe she couldn’t cope making hot drinks but our two girls were then outside getting wet cold. I own my own take away back home and its an honour to not only serve the community, but its also special thinking that people choose us rather than the competition, yet in this establishment were felt anything but hostility and a bad atmosphere. We were at the rear of a very small tea room so hopefully the walk of shame we endured was a smidgen of how embarrassed the staff should feel shouting such nonsense across the room in front of paying guests. Lets hope you have enough custom through the winter months. Came to the ‘Balcony’ on the seafront instead. Incredible view, fantastic staff, place was bustling and we had our order very fast. They definitely deserved the money and tip that we paid.
