The manager, Jack(? , was so welcoming and, although the Tasting Menu was unavailable, talked us through the menu. This unhurried approach set the tone for a lovely dinner. We shared three starters mackerel, birds liver parfait and confit lamb’s belly which were all beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. For our mains my wife had a duck dish and I had the cod loin. Both were perfectly seasoned and tasted divine (we even shared a fork of each other’s dishes to avoid food envy . I don’t normally take food photos but on this occasion I did so I’ve attached them. Great food, great service and our favourite meal of the weekend. As a post script, we also had a spa day with cream tea in the hotel which was rather lovely too!
We are visiting Fistral Bay on holiday and booked a table at the Dune for our last night. We were warmly welcomed and offered a lovely table overlooking the bay. There was an excellent selection of food on the menu and we chose a wine from their summer wine list. Starters where wonderful, a great choice and we each had something different. All excellent but my stuffed courgette flower was exceptional. Mains and dessert were all beautifully cooked and presented and tasted wonderful. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and evening, nothing I can complain about.
Really disappointed with food and attitude of the manager. Ordered the Miso aubergine with cous cous and pomegranate. What came was 1/2 a very small aubergine on a handful of cous cous. It was so tough I couldn’t even cut it. The manager kept saying it ‘was meant to be tough’ and reluctantly offered to have another one ‘cooked’ for me. When the second one came out there were no pomegranates on it. When I asked they said they’d run out, but no alternative offered. Complete rip off at £18!!! Service charge automatically added to the bill even though there were two of us.
During dinner, our drinks took 25 minutes to arrive even though the restaurant was not busy. By the time they came, we had already finished our snacks and starters. The main courses were disappointing - my partner's cod was overly salty and drowned in tartare sauce, while my halibut was small for the price and came with a burnt piece of chorizo. When we mentioned our dissatisfaction to the waiter, she apologized and said she would speak to the manager. We decided to order desserts in the hope of redeeming our experience, but the milk chocolate and peanut mousse was served with off whipped cream. When we brought this to the waiter's attention once again, she said she would inform the manager. When we asked to pay, we were surprised to find that we were not offered any discount for our numerous complaints. However, the manager never came to address our concerns. The next morning, I experienced sickness, diarrhea, and cramps, and since we had only eaten at this restaurant, I am certain that it was caused by the food we were served. Overall, we would not recommend dining here.
Great menue, good veggie options, I had the courgette flower to start which was so different and tasted lovely. It was a busy restaurant but felt so relaxed and all the staff were very friendly and knowledge. Definitely recommen this resturants for a lovely treat or just a nice meal. Price was not overly expensive for what it was either.
