Fast forward to today. I was passing, so popped in to see if I could pick up a tub for this weekend. I spoke to the bloke in there who said he remembered my email (but didn’t reply) and that they didn’t sell in bulk. I pointed out that the website said they did and was told the website had been out of date for ages. Rubbish.
We visited Charlestown a couple of times while we were staying in Cornwall. On both occasions we stopped by to grab pasties for lunch. Great pasties at a handy location with outdoor seating which is perfect for us and our three Labradors.
While on our way back from dinner in Charleston’s historic harbor area, we stumbled upon a local gourmet ice cream cottage. From our first sample tasting, we were hooked. The award-winning elder flower and elderberry ice cream was bursting with floral essence. Our next tasting was Black beards blackcurrant. While the combination was not quite as exotic, the flavors were just as impressive. The intense fruit flavors seem fresh off the vine. Perfectly blended with rich Cornish cream. We ordered a two-scoop cup and took a seat at one of the convenient picnic tables. As we were enjoying our ice cream, we were fortunate to strike up a conversation with the owner and founder Victoria. She graciously invited us to sample a few more of her signature flavors which were all amazing. Her ice creams use all natural ingredients and up to half the sugar of most ice creams. Instead, she incorporates more of the natural sweetness of the ingredients, which also intensifies the flavors. For anyone visiting the Charleston area, Tall Ships creamery is a must!
A quiet little cafe with outside seating. We made a few visits during our week stay in Charlestown. The range of ice cream flavours is amazing. It was difficult to decide which to try first. We had the waffles. I chose the cream tea waffles: cream and jam with scone crumbled over the top. Also they sold pasties. First time my some had tried a Cornish pasty.
Put simply if you want a gorgeous, tasty pasty visit this place. Literally the best pasty ever! We visited here two days before we left Cornwall. If I’d gone on day one I’d have visited every day. Myself and my husband had a cheese pasty and a steak pasty along with cake slices. The pasty’s were phenomenal. I wish you posted them out!
