The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff and owner are very friendly. The pub food is excellent and they also have rooms available. I would definitely go back again.
My family and I stopped by this charming pub after a rainy walk along the coast. We were welcomed warmly, despite being fairly soaked from the rain (3 humans and 2 dogs). The food was outstanding, the atmosphere inviting and homey, and the Cornish hospitality was top-notch. What really topped off the experience was when the woman working at the bar overheard our plans to walk back in the rain to get our car. She contacted a local man who kindly gave my husband a ride to retrieve our car, saving us from another wet trek. How thoughtful! If you find yourself in the area, be sure to visit this pub - you won't be disappointed. Fantastic experience.
Our group of four stopped by for lunch after a lengthy coastal walk with our two dogs. We received a friendly greeting from the landlady and the locals. The beer selection was limited to only Tribute on handpump, but there was a good variety of gins available. We opted for toasted sandwiches and chips, which arrived promptly and were hot, tasty, and satisfying. The generously filled sandwiches came with a side salad, and the irresistible chips were too good to resist. We found ourselves struggling to finish our meal due to the generous portions.
We visited on a damp Easter Sunday having prebooked a table. The pub was busy with both diners and drinkers giving the bar a good ambience. The roast beef was first class. Tasty with a delicious gravy and fab roast spuds. For me a green veg such as broccoli would have improved the visual appeal but that is a minor observation. Treacle tart and custard for dessert was nothing special but perfectly ok. I have given the pub a 'good ' rating for two reasons. The food service and welcome could have been a bit friendlier. Smiles cost nothing. But my main issue is why on earth the landlord felt it necessary to have the tv on and showing a Carry On film. It did nothing for the atmosphere. I can understand having it on for a big sporting event but just for the sake of it seemed pointless.
