The Taj Mahal Indian Takeaway

As someone who dines out frequently, I have made a vow to send back subpar food as it is too costly to waste. The server kindly offered to replace my meal, and I agreed. I opted for the more expensive king prawn rogan josh, expecting a tomato-based dish. However, it seemed like the kitchen had accidentally added an excessive amount of black pepper, making it unbearable to eat. Despite being able to handle spicy food like Vindaloo, the overwhelming taste of black pepper was too much. I left most of the meal uneaten but had to pay for it. If this is supposed to be Nepalese cuisine, then it is disappointing. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

We were impressed with the high quality authentic Nepalese Indian food at this restaurant. We have had a lot of similar cuisine in the Midlands, but this place is right up there. Some reviews mentioned that the service and decor were not quite up to par, but we enjoyed it and would definitely return. We were delighted to find a restaurant serving such top-notch food in the remote location of Penzance. It was a great discovery.

We were recommended to try Taj Mahal by our paddle board instructor from Penzance. The food was excellent, with generous portions and a variety of tasty dishes, including Nepalese specialties. It would have been nice to have more sauce options for the poppadums, but that's a minor issue. Our server was exceptional, knowledgeable, and attentive. However, another waiter, who mentioned he had only been there for 2 months, seemed unsure when we asked simple questions about the menu and drink options. The decor was a bit dated, but the meal was delicious and good value overall. We had a laugh about the waiter's confusion, so it didn't take away from our enjoyable experience.

Went to this restaurant on the basis of several positive Trip Advisor reviews. Found it one of the most bland and unauthentic Indians meals I've ever had. Only slight positives were quite good pilau rice and nan breads.

Always a great meal and excellent service. They only accept tips I cash now which is a bit annoying.
