Their delivery service is always quick and reliable. Upon entering the restaurant, the aroma is always delightful and the tables are consistently clean.
I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant because the food is cooked well. However, after my experience last night, I will no longer support this establishment. I discovered a piece of rat feces in the bottom of the white rice that I had ordered! I am truly disgusted because I had eaten some of this rice the night before. I called to inform the management, but they denied everything, claiming that the restaurant does not have mice or rats. They insisted that it could have been a piece of food or chicken, and not what I believed it to be. However, it is hard not to think otherwise when it looks exactly like rat feces. Here is a picture as proof. I recommend dining elsewhere as I will not be returning to this restaurant. 12/13/2023.
When I was a child, my parents used to take me to Malecon on 160-something street. I have fond memories of enjoying a skirt steak with onions there, grilled on an actual grill rather than a flat top. So when I placed my order for a grilled skirt steak with the Spanish-speaking server, I emphasized the word "grilled" in English. Despite her assurance that my steak would be prepared as I requested, it was not grilled. This was disappointing for me, as Malecon holds nostalgic value for me and I prefer to stick to places I am familiar with. Perhaps this was just a taste of the old Malecon. Regrettably, I will not be returning.
Night staff at this place is the worst. Either you have low standards and have no other option. I had no other option. Food is below standard and badly cooked. I accept that I ordered from this place but as a person who eats at the Malecón on 175th, I think the Bronx could do better. Staff can't speak English and speak Spanish even worse. It's insane. If I were Caribbean which I am not I know I wouldn't be proud to call this my peoples food. Only nice thing about this place is maybe the orange signage outside and that's only cause I like the color orange. Staff that worked on Feb 9th during the evening no professionalism.
I should preface this with my last experience was not good salty food and crappy service. Even as a Latina, these people act as if they were doing me a favor by letting me buy their food. I was in that area and decided to try again but this time, to go, since the last time was over 2 years ago. We ordered bone in chicharron de pollo (that was not fully cooked and made my partner sick), pollo al horno, rice, beans and maduros. Dessert was flan that turned out to not be fresh 45 dollars later and I will not do it again. Unfortunately, I live too far to bring the food back, but I certainly thought about it. Never again!
