Very traditional style restaurant with excellent service and we both thought our meals were quite good. I had fish and chips, my husband had trout and veg and a pear, walnut and blue cheese salad that he said was excellent. Very central and close to our hotel so we could easily walk to and from the Stow Lodge.
We have just got back from a weekend here and enjoyed our stay. Our room was in the coach House, which was comfortable, though the bathroom was a little dated and my pet hate is carpets in toilet areas! It was a very warm weekend and we had to have the windows opened (there was a fan in the room but it pivoted when it was on, so we didn't have it on in the night) and the traffic noise was loud, as were the church bells next door but I completely understand that the hotel can't do much about that. I did struggle to sleep though....and I do wear ear plugs. We had a good breakfast each day, overlooking the famous door with the yew trees either side, at the back of St Edwards Church, and there is a lovely garden to sit in when the weather is nice. The staff were all so nice. All so cheery and upbeat. We would like to come back if we come this way again.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch here. The food was tasty and the service was excellent even though it was quite busy.
Visited for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. The Sea bass was delicious as was the roast beef; the vegetable selection was excellent and not over cooked. The syrup sponge for pudding was one of the best ever. Will certainly return when we next visit Stow,
Wonderful meal of roast beef and trimmings. Bright, comfortable restaurant and attentive waiter. Very good value too.
