It perfectly matches the vibe of a quaint seaside town pub. The views, both inside and outside, are fantastic, as the establishment is located on Penn Cove. The cozy atmosphere fosters a sense of community; I've often struck up conversations with tourists over the pool table with its wobbly cues. The bar staff feel like they stepped out of a movie, always delightful and a bit cheeky. When it comes to food, the offerings are typical pub fare, with most options being just average. The standout dish, however, is undeniably the famous Bucket-o-Mussels from Penn Cove, which I tend to order almost every time I come here. Just a heads-up for international travelers: since this venue operates as a tavern, children aren't allowed, and while they don't serve a full range of cocktails, they primarily offer beers and wines.
We started with calamari, which was perfectly cooked, and the dipping sauce was so good we could have drunk it! Then we indulged in mussels—2 pounds for four hungry Texans—and they were simply incredible. If we had been able to eat more, we definitely would have ordered another two pounds! As the night went on, we kept enjoying our drinks, made friends with the bartender, played a few rounds of pool, and before we knew it, we felt like part of the family. Before we left, we were surprised with three Toby's glasses, learned about the filming of "War of the Roses" there in the 80s, and even took some pictures outside the restaurant. Plus, the lesson about real mussels is something I definitely won’t forget. Overall, it was a wonderful evening filled with great food, drinks, and fun. I truly hope to return one day!
I Wish I Could Live Here. This is such a cheerful spot. The mussels are the best I've ever tasted, and the wine sauce is so good that you could drink it. During my three visits, everything was outstanding. Plus, the view is fantastic! I can't wait to return next summer.
AWESOME. 2 lbs of muscles, great value, best ever! Will be back for sure!
Coupeville Native. Grew up in Coupeville was able to go to Toby's when I turn 21. To this day, it is still weird to go into the tavern. I always make Tody's a place to visit when I am in Coupeville. Love the place, food it great! Beer is always cold.
