Locals Restaurant at the Old House

We went there as a couple for lunch and had a delicious and fresh meal. With dietary restrictions I was able to make special requests which the kitchen fully accommodated without extra cost. Nice BC wine selection and much of the menu ingredients were as the name describes, local ingredients. We were in no hurry which was good because lunch took 2 hours. It was very relaxing.

A resident told us that it's the best place to eat on the Island and he was quite right. The dishes were original and tasty. Very modern combinations using local produce.

This place was a major surprise. Had my bar real high with all the positive reviews. The Quebecois chef is just amazing. Service is perfect. Food is gastronomically delicious. We wanted great seafood and that's exactly what we got. Delicious Cortes Island Gem Oysters (the mignonette was very yummy).! Everything on the Seafood Trio and Pacific Rim Bouillabaisse was cooked to perfection. The flavour layers and sides were all really well done. Sat on the patio for a lovely, romantic evening.

Thanks to Trip Advisor for the reviews that sent us to this lovely restaurant. We were six, so a good range of the menu was sampled, and every dish was really good. In particular, all of the locally sourced veg served here are fabulous. The beet and goats cheese salad was just outstanding. Try the sampler dessert plate too - you won't be disappointed! All in all, a really nice find when you are in Courtenay.
